What they Say

Paref-Westbridge School gave our two sons a very memorable and happy schooling. This school molded well our two boys academically, spiritually, as well as physically. Jude is presently a Taiwan International Graduate Program Scholar and Corns is a Philippine Science High School Scholar. As parents, we feel at home at Westbridge Campus. Everyone seems like an extended family. The Westbridge spirit of one happy, loving family is always in our hearts. The teachers are always supportive of the parents' goal for their sons. They are like older brothers to the boys. They are approachable yet also strict in imposing discipline to the boys. Paref-Westbridge may not be a perfect school but we had our best memories with our two boys in this school.

Through its tutorial chats, I learned how to speak to adults and people in authority with a healthy mix of candor and respect. Values class sears virtues and the faith in to every student's heart. The school environment itself builds fortitude - as an all boys school and a faculty of strict teachers leaves very little room for babying. I only realized it after I graduated and got to observe how other people acted, but Westbridge really does have a unique culture that every student/alumnus takes pride in. When vouching for a new acquaintance to join our group it’s not uncommon for us to say "mayo ni siya, daw taga Westbridge man ah".

PAREF-Westbridge School, Inc. offers a holistic approach in educating young gentlemen, transforming them to be men of integrity. I can fondly remember that the school provided us various opportunities for growth. When I was in Westbridge, I personally had the chance to go to communities such as in Igbaras to assist in the giving of goods and financial support to families who were victims of the typhoon and a vehicular accident. This experience is important for me because it opened my mind and my heart to other people's concerns. The school also exposed us to various academic, journalism and literary-musical contests in the city, regional and even in the national level. There were also yearly sports festivals that engaged not just the students but the parents as well. We also had our father-and-son camps which allowed us to become closer to our dads. In addition, we were assigned our individual personal formation tutor whom we can talk to from time to time when we have concerns regarding school or whatsoever. With the help of some alumni and our parents, we had a series of career talks which personally had enlightened me as to what career options I should consider given my interests, strengths and weaknesses. Right now, I am teaching social science subjects in two universities in Iloilo City and I can proudly say that through the integral approach used in the Westbridge education, I have become a Gentleman of the finest order.

Westbridge education stayed true to its advocacy of providing holistic education. Inasmuch as we were developed academically, the Westbridge culture in itself honed us emotionally and spiritually – facets that not many institutions would take seriously.  Having said that, I always say, that it was in Westbridge where I developed a deeper connection with my “conscience”.  In many choices and decisions that I make and trivial – I always go back to such conscience to guide me in my sense of right and wrong.  It is my wish that many young people get the kind education that I experienced in Westbridge.  The ideals that the school teach more than the knowledge are vital as we now take the challenge of making our country better.   I was lucky to be part of the family because of a scholarship of which until now, I am grateful and I pay back though paying-it-forward.
